3C104 FIVE GREAT EXPLORERS

SUMMARY

This book chronicles the story of five individuals who have done exceptional jobs in the field of exploration. They were almost forgotten, but later on, they were recognized... not to mention that all of them were blacks.
Esteban Dorantes explored parts of America, then called as the New Land., while trying to bring his master and companions to Mexico for safety. Matthew Henson was a part of the first explorers to reach the North Pole. Jean Dusable founded the city, Chicago, while thriving in his fur trading business. James Beckwourth discovered a passage through the mountain that made travel easier and faster. Mae Jemison was the first black woman astronaut to go into space aboard the spacecraft “Endeavor” as the team’s science specialist.
